Wage and Hour

New York wage and hour laws are in place to ensure that employees receive fair pay for the work they perform. Unfortunately, some employers fail to comply with these laws—whether by not paying overtime, withholding wages, misclassifying employees as independent contractors, or failing to pay at least the minimum wage. For example, a restaurant worker may not receive proper overtime pay for hours worked over 40 in a week, or a construction company might wrongly classify employees as contractors to avoid paying benefits and taxes.

If your employer has violated wage and hour laws, you may have the right to take legal action to recover unpaid wages, overtime, and other damages. Depending on your situation, you may be able to file a complaint with the New York Department of Labor or pursue a private lawsuit for back pay, penalties, and attorney’s fees.

Our attorneys are experienced in handling wage and hour disputes, including cases involving unpaid overtime, minimum wage violations, and employee misclassification. Contact us today to discuss your case and learn whether you may have a claim against your employer for unpaid wages under New York law.
