In a perfect world, employers should give their employees a reasonable amount of time to review their severance agreement. However, many employers may want to pressure their employees to sign on the spot; or, give out a time constraint that is unreasonable. Your employer should also be observing the laws that allow for exceptions to the time allotted to review; or allow an employee to revoke such an agreement. For example, if you are over a certain age, the law may require that you be given a certain amount of days to review or even to revoke after signing.
