Title 9 also protects students from any form of gender discrimination that takes place in a school club such as the debate team, theatre, band, or even a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) program. Gender bias can occur when one sex is favored over another for a position in one of these programs or when one gender is treated less well than another in any form. It is also possible for sexual harassment to occur during these programs and schools can be held responsible if they do not address the situation.
